Chrome Web Store recently launched its payments infrastructure for the developers of 20 more countries along with the fully featured store for 24 countries. Earlier, it was available only to US based developers. According to the reports and feedback from several international developers, this launch is very successful. Developers have seen dramatic jump in revenue and traffic.
Feedback from many developers and publishers has been published here. Publisher of Todo.ly, a popular web app, says: "The first few days after the launch were absolutely amazing! We didn’t have too much time to sleep, as we doubled the number of users we’d had in the past nine months within 24 hours.".
The payments infrastructure enables developers to sell their applications, web apps, themes and games through Chrome Web Store. Google has also introduced In-App Payments APIs for the developers, which allow them to sell virtual items or similar services for their apps and games. The In-App payment is currently available to US based developers only, and Chrome team has expressed its interest to launch it globally soon.
Google also runs an application store for Android Apps with payments infrastructure and In-App payment option. For Chrome Web Store, Google provides several tools and APIs (like Licensing API, In-App Payments API) for the developers.
