Mozilla Boot to Gecko Coming to MWC with Partners

Boot to Gecko (B2G) is an upcoming mobile operating system currently being developed by Mozilla, and to be available as another open-sourced mobile platform after Google’s Android. Mozilla’s CTO, Brendan Eich, has hinted towards a major success for B2G project: Mozilla is going to unveil partners for B2G at Mobile World Congress (MWC).

MWC 2012 is scheduled from February 27 to March 1, 2012 and unveiling partners for B2G will certainly attract everyone towards the upcoming mobile OS.

B2G is set to have features like Open Web Apps and Store, NFC, USB & Bluetooth, Gaia User Interface, eBook reader, Camera, Media player and gallery in Q1 2012. Its roadmap page on Mozilla Wiki lists all other targeted features.

Mozilla has already announced that B2G will not be compatible with Android, and hence, Android apps. Although, it may use Android’s kernel and few drivers.
