Mozilla had opened developer preview of the Marketplace back in December 2011, which was limited to the first three thousand developers. The marketplace will be launched for public later this year, probably with the release of Firefox 13.
It seems that the MWC 2012 is going to be an awesome event for the Mozilla lovers, as Mozilla has also announced to unveil its mobile operating system, Boot to Gecko, with partners. It will open a new opportunity for the OEMs and carriers, as they will have a truly open operating system, framework and application platform. While the application ecosystems of Google and Apple are controlled by the respective companies, Mozilla’s application store will be a boon for the OEMs and app developers.
The preview versions of App Runtime for Firefox and Android is available here.
