Chrome was the top target of the bug hunters at CanSecWest conference 2012. Chrome got pwned once again at Pwnium (parallel event with the Pwn2Own, sponsored by Google) as a hacker named Pinkie Pie hacked it and won the reward of $60k.
Chrome has been heavily advertised by Google as the most secured browser, and this is the third instant of Chrome’s failure at CanSecWest 2012. Total five vulnerabilities in Chrome and two non-Chrome bugs identified in Pwnium. Google Chrome team has just released an update, version 17.0.963.79, for the stable channel which brings fixes for all these bugs.
Moreover, security experts at VUPEN exploited Internet Explorer 9 on the second day of the event with two zero-day vulnerabilities. VUPEN team has won the Pwn2Own 2012 contest with 132 points. Another team, Willem & Vincenzo, hacked Mozilla Firefox and demonstrated full code execution.
