Maxthon, the browser we discovered recently as the topper on HTML5Test.com, has been warned by Niels Leenheer, the developer behind this website which ranks browsers on the basis of their support for latest HTML5 features. Leenheer has revealed that the Maxthon has enabled several WebKit features it does not support yet.

Maxthon has WebKit as its default rendering engine. Due to this fake support for features like WebGL, getUserMedia and subtitles, Maxthon ranked as the top browser on HTML5Test.com with record 467 points. These features do not work in Maxthon yet.
Leenheer has blacklisted Maxthon for these features and now it scores just 422 points. It is still the top scoring browser followed by Chrome 20 and Opera 12. On the other hand, Chrome canary build scores 442 points which is a pre-release version for the developers and testers.
In March, Maxthon has released a press release claiming its top position on the site, which was possibly a publicity move. HTML5Test.com scores don’t matter for the browsers, and there are several other factors deciding the best browser.
